| Welcome to the November Art Newsletter Hello everyone,
No sooner are we getting used to it being 2008 and 2009 is nearly here. Are you, like me wondering where the year has gone?
It's been a month with lots of different things happening and thanks to the sharp-eyed amongst you for emailing me to say that you spotted a Joe Hendry original in the background on a recent Channel 4 documentary!
I hope you find something of interest in this month's newsletter and as always, I do answer all emails personally so please feel free to get in touch. Best Regards Joe | I would like to say a huge "thank you" to everyone who turned up at some of the events in October and also to those of you who have emailed me. The WASPS Open Studios event is something wich I really enjoy and it was lovely to see so many of you there. On the preview evening of the solo show at Park Gallery in Glasgow we had torrential rain and near gale force winds. Again, a huge thanks to all of you who turned up for what was a well attended event and to those of you who have visited since. The exhibition continues until the 9th November and some of the spaces created by sold items have been replaced by new pieces, such as "Tango" above, to keep the event interesting. | | If Art Auctions Are Good Enough For Damien Hirst....
....then they are definately good enough for me!
The Contemporary Scotland 2008 exhibition has (for legal reasons) been renamed "The Scottish Contemporary Art Sale 2008".
This is a fairly major event and I have 6 pieces being auctioned in amongst the Howsons and McKeans!

The auction is a bit of an unknown for the organisers and for the artists but I have to say that there seems to have been a lot of effort put into it and the online catalogue is fantastic.
The Preview Evening is at McTears Auctioneers in Glasgow and there is a complimentary catalogue for those attending. The exhibition runs throughout November with the actual auction taking place on November 22nd.
Guests of exhibiting artists are welcome at the preview evening and you can find all the information on your invitation by clicking here.If you are thinking of attending the preview, please let me know.

| Change Of Style Anyone?
My painting style seems to have been developing recently without consciously trying to alter it. I have found that I am also working on pieces with no reference or source material which are plucked straight from my head.

The above artwork, originally titled "Bedtime" and now renamed "Heading Home" is such a piece.
I am quite excited about this new direction: we will see where it takes me. "Heading Home" along with other new artwork is in the New Art section on my website.

| | Commissions
I frequently accept commissions and they are always great fun to work on.

Recently I had the pleasure of producing two very different pieces from one image. You can see the original photograph and the alternative artwork by following the link below.

| Work In Progress

I have been including "work in progress" on my blog and updating the website fairly regularly in what has been a very active time for me.
This is a period of renewed energy and I hope you will find time to see new work, such as "Two To Tango", above when it is completed and added to the New Art section of the art gallery. | |
