Welcome to the April Art Newsletter

Hi all,

I hope this newsletter finds you well.

There's lots happening in the upcoming months and March and April have been spent preparing for these events, which are outlined here.

As always, please drop me a line with any comments or suggestions, it's always great to hear from you.

Best Regards

Joe

Even More McTears

After the first two McTears auctions I am delighted to have been invited back for a third, the "McTears Summer Contemporary Scottish Art Auction". I am particularly flattered as the event is growing in stature and has attracted some more really well established artists.

Also, there is a waiting list for artists at this event as well as a limit on the number of paintings at a maximum of 5, however, I have been advised that as a "core artist" I have been invited to submit 7 paintings this time.

I am very flattered and it lets me know that I must be doing something right!

The event will be on 30th May and for those of you who like the excitement of an auction, the event will again be live online at the McTears website.

I will confirm exactly which pieces I will be submitting in next month's newsletter.

Can We Meet Again?

I have been given a solo exhibition at the fantastic ArtDeCaf in the Merchant City in Glasgow. ArtDeCaf is an art gallery and wine bar which attracts a real cosmopolitan crowd, they have even been known to let a certain kiltie-painting artist in for a beer now and again!

I am really excited about this. It's a great venue and has had shows from some of Scotlands top artist's in the past few years.

If you have read my previous newsletters. you will know that a solo show is quite a nerve-wracking event for an artist. I will have more details in forthcoming newsletters but if you are in Glasgow on the afternoon of June 7th then please come along to the exhibition in Brunswick Street. The exhibition will run for 2 weeks.

I also continue to have a sizeable selection of work at my other Glasgow "Home", the Park Gallery if you are visiting the city.

Change of Style

I have been painting quite differently recently. I think that there are various reasons for this. Partly, missing almost a full month in the studio in February and also "hanging around" with some new artists has made me take a different look at the way I paint. As I mention in my Blog, I have also been painting over the top of some paintings and achieving a completely different effect.

This new work has been well received and I have sold some pieces before they have even been completed, which is nice!

I have also started to include "works in progress" in the New Art section on the front page of the website and I am happy to reserve any such pieces. Please email me if there is anything which you are particularly interested in.

In addition to the ArtDecaf Exhibition  (June 7th) and McTears (May 30th), I will also be present at the Parade Artists Exhibition on the 16th and 17th May. As mentioned in last month's newsletter, this is a great event with other artists, sculptors and ceramacists present.

I have also been invited to take part in the Glasgow  Southside Festival on 23rd and 24th May. More details in next moths newsletter.

For Non Glasgow Subscribers

I am very aware that the newsletter has become very "Glasgow biased" as this is where most of my exhibiting takes place.

Please be assured  that the website is still of utmost importance to me and I still regularly send not only prints but original paintings all over the world.

Prints

For most pieces of art from February 2009 on, I will be able to produce prints on request. This applies to pieces which are not designated as limited editions.

If there is a particular piece which you would like to know about then please just drop me a line.
